My husband and I decided to spend Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago this year. As part of the celebration, we wanted to go see the Marshall Fields Macy's Day Parade. However, being that we have the lazy gene, we woke up late and made it just in time to see the end of the parade. But, we saw something that most do not witness. The deflation of the giant helium balloons. And, I got pictures.
This was Kermit the Frog
This was Larry the Cucumber
Happy Feet, I think
Some thing with a lightning bolt
Here is the Toy Soldier about to be deflated
A happy Rudolph not knowing his demise
And, Frosty. My husband tried to warn him not to turn down the alley, but he didn't listen. Poor Frosty.
At long last. Not since the stunning spectacle of David Blaine has anyone ever attempted such a feat of escapism. I present...squirrel!
But, seriously, this little bundle of fur has been my nemesis for months, eating away at my bird seed. When I saw this out my window, I laughed. Then, I grabbed my camera, ran outside and laughed again. I gathered his little woodland friends around and we pointed and laughed. We sang the Vonage tune a few times and laughed some more. Oh yes, this was a good day!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Why?

California would be my first choice. My family and friends, my home, all I love are in California. Second choice? Hawaii or Canada or maybe even Scotland. These are places that are stunningly beautiful and have the nicest people. I reserve the right to travel though. I'm sure there are places out there I have not been to that I may also like.
My mother-in-law recently went through a rather difficult move. She lives outside of Boston and had to move from a townhouse to a small apartment. It has been really rough on her, since she has not had to move for over 30 years and has many items she did not want to part with. My uncle, being a bit of a pragmatist, came right out and said that she should not make life difficult for everyone based on this move, because it could be worse. We could be putting her in a senior home. My husband and I found a rather nice senior home in Michigan. A nice home with a terrible name.
It's Friday - Taco Night at our house. It seems to be a tradition that many of my friends and family have carried on from their childhood. However, there seems to be a terrible misunderstanding of what tortillas one should use for tacos. Let me explain.
Tacos, no matter what kind, should always be made with Corn Tortillas, never Flour Tortillas. I went to my local supermarket today and saw a wall of flour tortillas and one small stack of corn tortillas. I inquired about it and found that most people don't know the difference. Let me educate you...
This is corn or maize. It comes from a corn stalk. Flour comes from wheat.
See the difference?
Enjoy your tacos!
My husband and I are going to NYC in a couple of weeks. We bought tickets to a show that was up for three Tonys (but only received one). We decided on this show based on the actors who are in it. Are we the only people who see the absolutely cool connection of having Palpatine and Voldemort on the same stage? Are we that geeky, or do we just not understand New York Theater? And, we have front row center tickets too.
And, I can't think of a thing to say.
