Harry Potter and the Chappa'ai
This will be a sad summer for me. Two series I have followed for years will come to an end. I am speaking of Stargate SG-1 and the Harry Potter series. For years I have seen similarities between the mythology of the two properties. For example, in Stargate, the Stargates were built by a race of humans called "The Ancients" over 10,000 years ago. One of the Ancient (or Alteran) beings was Merlin (Myrddin). Yes, this is the same Merlin from the King Arthur tales. He came to Earth to construct a device (the Sangraal) to use against the other Ancient faction known as the Ori - as in "Hallowed are the Ori." The Alterans and the Ori are both ascended races who were once human. While the Alterans believe in science and enlightenment, the Ori believe in fundamentalist religious ways. (Note: the Ori would not approve of the Harry Potter books.)
As for Harry Potter, Merlin was one of the first and one of the greatest wizards in their world. He existed before the founders of Hogwarts. If the knowledge of advanced technology was lost and only the devices existed, would not the ones who are capable of using the devices (wands, etc) be considered magical? Maybe, just maybe, the magical humans in the Harry Potter series are descendents of the Alterans. Only those who posses the "Ancient ATA gene" can operate the Ancient devices.
If you don't believe me that there may be a connection, take a look at these photos.
Here we have the SG-1 team in front of the Stargate.
And, here we have Harry and his friends in front of the same said Stargate in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Finally, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry activates the Stargate.
So, what really happens in the last Harry Potter book? Could Dumbledore have ascended through some sort of Ancient device - a device that Hagrid took Dumbledore's body to while everybody else was involved in chasing after the Death Eaters? Will he be able to bring balance to the magical world, or will he sit around with the other Ancients at the ascension diner and eat pie with Oma and Anubis and speak about how he cannot interfere? Will Daniel ascend one last time to not only save our world, but the magical world too? What planet did Harry and his friends gate to anyway? Are the wizards the mysterious "Fifth Race?" Whatever happened to Ba'al, and why was his death so uneventful?
